New Basic Grey 'Kissing Booth'...

Basic Grey's new line Kissing Booth is their new Valentines Day range which is in store now (paper packs and 6 x 6 paper pads) and I have the new Page of the Month kits. There are 2 different kits both in Kissing Booth, but they are very versatile, not just suitable to Valentines only. Drop me a line if you would like one!

Also new in store are lots of yummy Thickers which after all these years, even with the adhesive issues!, I still love Thickers and especially the new fonts. I will be using them for class layouts for sure as they are awesome! I am working on classes for February...getting the creative juices flowing again. Its tricky after being stuck in book work mode for a couple of weeks! Looking forward to cranking up 2012 classes though.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

Hi there. I finally got around to taking some official photos of Christmas 2011 and here's a couple. I love this time of year as crazy as it is! I just love getting ready for Christmas and decorating, wrapping, dressing up and celebrating.

There are always things we wish could be better in the future but lets also reflect on good things that have happened as well. I have my health and my kids, a husband and my Mum, Dad and brother so I am extremely grateful. I am also grateful to live in such a fortunate country - Australia. I love my job, my town and my home...so much to be thankful for. I hope you have loads to be thankful for too. Enjoy the Christmas break and your families - they are more valuable than gold.

New Releases from Dusty Attic...

Hi there! Just thought you might like to know I have the new releases from Dusty Attic in store now....they are gorgeous! I am especially looking forward to using the new Christmas tree and titles for my Christmassy layouts.

I've been busy in the shop creating framed layouts for people for Christmas gifts and also doing some off the page projects with kids - also for Christmas gifts. I have been making cards as well and my favourite is this Diorama style card. Easy to make and really cute. If you would like the instructions let me know...

I have also begun a December Daily album which is a concept Ali Edwards came up with about taking photos everyday in December and documenting them in a mini album. I have managed to keep up with photos but havent kept up with the pages so far but I am not worried as I will finish it in January. I don't know how the thousands of other women doing the December Daily project find time to keep their albums up to date in December as life is just so busy! I am pleased to be giving it a go at least. I will show pics soon on the progress.

I am hoping to blog often this week to show all the projects I have been doing so here's hoping I can! That's all for now.

Hi there folks. At the October retreat I promised an update on Amy's progress with her status on becoming a Mum and (although its late!) I am pleased to announce Amy and Garth had a healthy, beautiful baby girl - Saskia Morgan - at 3:17pm on Thursday the 10th November weighing 3.055kg. Both are doing really well now and Amy is a very chilled out good Mum. Its so nice to see them have a bundle of joy an what has been a tough year. Good on you Amz...your awesome!

Ok, so the last few months have been crazy - which is nearly the norm - so I havent updated my blog for a while and you may have given up checking it out but here's an update anyway.

The Hyden retreat was a huge success with 60 ladies attending. We had amazing tutors who wowed us with their creativity, great company - girls from all over, great food (important) and even nice weather - its amazing the difference this can make. I am so pleased with how it all went and appreciate the feedback I have received, both good and the constructive suggestions. I try hard every retreat to make improvements and make each one different to keep it interesting. We raised $1164 for breast cancer research which was an added bonus. Well done girls for your generosity and congratulations to those who won prizes - well earnt!

I am pleased to announce the date for the next Hyden retreat - the 30th - 31st March & 1st April (oh dear...April Fools Day!) so mark your diaries. I will be taking registrations in late January so stay tuned around about then.

I also had a successful mini retreat in Denmark last weekend (17th - 19th November) at The Cove chalets. There were 14 of us who had a relaxing, creative weekend in the tranquil forest surroundings....just beautiful. I was quite unwell over the weekend but the girls were so gracious and enjoyed there time none-the-less. I have some layouts to share from the retreat but firstly I am pleased to announce the next retreat for the Albany region is on the 17th - 19th February 2012 at the Emu Beach Holiday Park in Albany. There are limited places so be quick to put your name down. You may register as soon as you like but registrations officially open early January 2012.

In between retreats, class preparation and all the travelling I have been doing, I have been putting together more Advent calendars for orders. I still have 2 more to do before the 1st of December which is next Thursday! Not long now til we get to try them out...the kids are so looking forward to it. I have some other ideas for Christmas decorations and cards so better get onto those soon...so much to do - so little time!

I have some fabulous new giftware in stock for Christmas and its so cool that Donna Downey - a scrapbooking celerity - now has a giftware line made by Demdaco who also make Willow Tree Angels. I have the Donna Downey collection of wall plaques which are stunning colours - very funky but suited to most decors. I also have a large range of Willow Tree Angels and another range of angels also made by Demdaco called the Kelly Rae Roberts Collection. These are stunning and come with sayings on them that are just so appropriate for gifts for special people in your life. If you are interested in purchasing any of these you can see them at demdaco.com.au. there are also wall plaques in this range but stocks are limited on all the giftware I have mentioned as they have been extremely popular. Now to share the layouts I did for the Denmark retreat...I was surprised to find out at the Hyden retreat that although my style is very simple, the girls absolutely love my double layouts where I cram heaps of photos (stylishly of course!) onto a layout because I quite often take way too many photos of some events then struggle to cull any because I like how they tell the story of the event. So with that in mind after the response to my We R Family class at the Hyden retreat, I created another 'Multitudes of Photos' layout and here are the 3 samples I created...

I'm missing in action like Sharon! Haven't had much time to sit down at the computer lately and haven't had the camera out for ages! I've been too busy preparing for the retreat which is only 8 sleeps away...yeehah! Oh hang on a minute...I need every one of those days to finish preparations.

One of the reasons I've been so busy is that in my bid to get ready early for Christmas, I have been making Advent calendars and teaching classes on how to make them. They have been such a huge success I am now being commissioned to make some to sell...lots of work but very exciting seeing each one evolve and finish up looking different from the rest. I love these babies and I think I could just about make them in my sleep. The raw calendar comes from my fav WA manufacturer Jen @ Dusty Attic. Then you choose a centre scene and decorate. Here is a pic of my first one...

Hi there! I have received Aimee Grahame's layouts for the retreat also and some sneak peaks of them to share. Firstly let me say how excited I am about Aimee being able to tutor for our October retreat. She has been a quite achiever over the past few years attending retreats and joining in as a participant. Her eye for colour and design has not gone unnoticed by other participants or myself so I thought it was time to ask her to show us her stuff and share her bright and colourful work! Aimee has a single page 'collage' layout to share (love it) ...

We are very privileged to have Sharon Manning back to tutor for our October retreat and I love what Sharon has prepared. Her class consists of three A4 layouts which can also be converted to 12 x 12 layouts. I have enjoyed doing A4 layouts in the last few years and they can fit into 12 x 12 albums now that We R Memory Keepers and American Crafts albums both fit 12 x 12 and A4 page protectors in them. You will love Sharon's classic style that is very versatile for many themes. Here's a taste...

I don't know about you but every year Christmas comes around long before I am ready for it and I don't get into the Christmas spirit or have all the frills I would like to lead up to the holidays. Well this year I am trying to be organised much earlier than usual so i am making an advent calender months in advance so once its finished I can fill the drawers with goodies for my kidlets. I am also going to attempt making bulk Christmas cards and perhaps even start on making some presents for loved ones. I'll keep you posted on my progress once I have achieved some. I always look at blogs leading up to Christmas where paper craft artists are preparing mini albums in advance for the 25 days leading up to Christmas and I think - "how do they find the time to do this?" Each year seems to get crazier as the kids get older and there are so many school commitments, end of year functions and then swimming lessons for the last 2 weeks before Christmas to top it off! Who has time for Christmas shopping?! Well (I'm a little slow sometimes) I figured out that some must start back here in September or even earlier! In fact, my sister-in-law does all her Christmas shopping in September so there is no pressure thinking about all that while she is harvesting right up to Christmas Eve....smart girl!

Hi there! Well I have received Mistra's layouts and you will not believe how incredible they are...I have ordered lots of stock for these kits as I am sure you will all want one. If you cannot make it to the retreat you are welcome to order kits also - more details on that later.

Toni Crane has prepared her classes, 2 in total. The first is 2 single page layouts using one kit that will have tonnes left over for extra layouts. The second is an OTP project that is really lovely. You will not be disappointed with Toni's classes either! Her style is different from any tutor we have had before and she is very talented. I am sure you are going to love her work too! Here's a taste of what she has created...

I will have more sneak peaks to show soon from our remaining tutors.

On a serious note, we lost a very dear friend and community member on the 31st of August. The late Denis Collins was the manager of the Wave Rock Hotel and Wave Rock Enterprises with his lovely wife Sheenagh. He is sorely missed by so many. I have come across generous people in my life but this couple pretty much top the list with all they do for the Hyden community, the environment and myself personally as well as many other individuals. Denis used to lend us his ute and help us move all the stock from my shop to the town hall for our retreats as well as countless other things he did to help me out. I want to pay tribute to this generous man as he played a part in helping me with my business. Rest in Peace big D.

Sneak Peaks and Basic Grey Page of the Month...

Hi, got some exciting stuff happening today!

Firstly I can reveal the sneak peaks for Mistra's classes (for the October retreat) - yes that's right, she has finished both her classes already! And I have the layouts in my hot little hand - TDF (to die for) You wont want to miss these classes I can tell you!

The first layout is feminine, pretty, fancy and all that girlie stuff! Y.U.M.

The second layout (if you were wishing for something more masculine and rustic) is SOOOOOOOOOO rustic and masculine and the layout is called 'Wild Abandon'. Here's a peak...

Also, the Dusty Attic on this layout has been specifically designed for this class and is exclusive to the Wave Rock Scrapbooking Retreat, until a January release so if you participate in this class you will be privileged to see it and have it first! I feel honoured that these girls would design product just for us and Jen even named the product 'Rustic Charm Frame' which was my suggestion! Thanks Jen.

So, if that wasn't enough news for one day...theres more. I have finally become a stockist for Basic Grey Page of the Month kits which started earlier this year. Each month (actually 2 kits every second month) new kits are released with new product from brand new ranges from Basic Grey. The kits come with a sample layout and instructions and tonnes of product to complete multiple layouts. These are great value for money. Albany class a huge success...

Hi all! I have just returned from a weekend in Albany where I taught scrapbooking classes for a day with a fantastic bunch of gals. Everyone who came seemed to enjoy themselves very much and even learnt a thing or two! It was a smallish group but we were able to get to know each other quite well and have a relaxing and fun time. I am really looking forward to doing this again and will look at a November date and then early February as well.

We started with a technique packed class with lots on layering and a vintage feel. Here is the layout I shared with the girls...

Limited kits and instructions are available for this class or better still you can do it with me at Scrappin' Outback where I can show you the tools and techniques I used.

We also did 2 other classes that were packed with photos and I will share these sometime - you are also more than welcome to come do these classes with me. If you are anything like me I have tonnes of photos to scrap then these 2 classes will put a dent in your piles of photos!

I am busily getting ready for our October retreat here in Hyden and places are filling quite quickly so if you are coming and haven't sent me your application you had better do so! Mistra has already completed her classes and we are putting kits together. I will show a sneak peak soon - her classes are awesome - you're gonna love them!

Ok, so school holidays (which were fun by the way) are over and its back to work which I am excited about. I am off the Lake Grace for a class tomorrow and Lake King next week. My Albany class is only a month away and I'm very excited about this one!!! Class layouts are coming together and I should have them completed by the end of the week.

I was a little frustrated that I had all this creative energy over the holidays but couldn't be at work using the energy....BUT we had the best time with the kids and our families and I have tonnes of new photos to scrap and precious memories we made together so it was worth the lack of scrapping time.

My Mum and Dad are in California visiting my nephews and Sister-in-law Cassi so I cant wait to see all the photos they bring home too.

New in while was gone is Bo Bunny 'Zoology' and 'Barefoot & Bliss' ranges and these are to die for! I cant wait to play.

Ooooh...and I confirmed a new tutor for the October retreat...very exciting - will reveal both new tutors soon. Maybe a 3rd in the pipeline...

Because I don't like doing posts without photos, here are some layouts I did last term that I haven't shared yet...

I am calling for expressions of interest for a day of scrapbooking classes (3 in total - morning, arvo and evening) in ALBANY on the 27th of August 2011 (finally!.. says Ann!!). Yes, I've finally decided it's time to get out and about again and share the LOVE and passion of scrapbooking, and Albany is beckoning. A little while back I did these 2 layouts of the kids with a Monarch butterfly that they found. The large butterfly on Phoebe's layout is handmade by a lady I met who makes them out of acetate and decorates them with glitter and bling so I just had to have some for my shop.

The papers are all by Basic Grey (of course!)

A day of remembrance...

It is one year today since we lost my brother, Dean. I cant believe its been that long and if I stop and think for too long I feel overwhelmed with grief and feel like it was yesterday. I guess I can stop today though and think about how wonderful he was, how free he is now, but also how much I miss him. Phoeb's thinks he's playing cards with Jesus and Dad thinks he surfing endless waves. It is comforting to know he is free from pain. Today I am going to be with my family.

Jett Dean Smith turned 5 yesterday! I cant believe he is so big now. I asked him to stay little forever so I can always kiss his chubby cheeks but he wants to grow up. I'll miss his littleness. We had so much fun recently looking through our videos from when the kids were babies and toddlers and nearly wet our pants laughing at some of the things they used to do. It's amazing how you forget...so thank goodness for videos, photos and SCRAPBOOKING (of course) that reminds us of all those awesome things they used to do. I especially love hearing them talk on videos and cant wait for someone to invent a way of hearing and seeing videos IN scrapbooks!

We had an awesome party at home with heaps of his friends. He had a blast. I have some catching up to do for birthday layouts so I'll have to get my A into G and start scrappin' away - so watch out for some birthday themed layouts.

Here is my version of the Crate Paper class kit I mentioned in an earlier post. I have been waiting for years for a scrapbook company to put out a range of boyish papers that are not to babyish ,if that makes sense, and this particular range called Toy Box is real good. I love how versatile it is and so colourful too!

Also, here are my latest layouts for my kids school albums. They have an album each which I put all their school related layouts in and their reports, certificates etc. as well. This years swimming carnival was fun as both of them were involved and we had the best weather and the best day. I was stoked with the pics I captured as well...a win.

I have also been doing kids classes in my shop and so far its going really well. The kids love it especially when they get to apply stickers. I remember the bliss of having stickers when I was a kid. The kids want to use glitter for one of our classes and my anal side is saying no but the kid in me wants to say yes and go for it. Which side will win I wonder...?

Oooh, and I have secured a new tutor for the October retreat but I am going to keep you guessing for a little bit...Ha!

New ranges in stock...

Hi. I'm back with some new paper ranges that have arrived in the last few weeks...I'm a little behind on reporting all the goings on around here!

I love the new To the Moon range by Fancy pants...very cute for little boys but versatile for older boys and other themes too...

Then My Minds Eye released American Made which is obviously very American BUT the papers are also suitable for Australian pages as the papers are double sided and really nice and I have always loved the red, white and blue together...

Also by MME is Hip Hooray boys and girls birthday party paper ranges...

And finally a new Black, white and cream range by Teresa Collins. These papers are lovely and very versatile.

I mostly have packs in at the moment for a lot of ranges as they are very affordable and handy for anyone who likes to buy coordinated papers to take the rocket science out of choosing things that match!

I have been scrapbooking quite a bit and have loads of layouts to show that I need to photograph so bare with me and I will get to it soon.

I have some kits for a great boys layout using Crate Paper Toy Box range complete with instructions for anyone who needs some inspiration to get them kick started...here is the layout...

Some sad news...

On Thursday 19th May Jonathan Lovering (Amy's Dad) lost his battle with cancer. I cant stop thinking about Amy and her family and the grief they are dealing with.

An update...

Well, its been 3 weeks since the retreat but it feels like longer than that! It has taken a while to get the shop back into shape and get my creative headgear moving again but we are back on track and into the swing of things. Firstly I should say how awesome the retreat was, the company - I love this bunch, our new tutors were so inspiring and our regular tutors were amazing as well! We feasted on great food, everyone scrapped their little hearts out despite the heat and we even entertained a bunch of Bikies that couldn't believe what they were seeing - obviously they haven't lived if they haven't heard of scrapbooking! So a good weekend had by ALL. Don't worry if you missed out because I've started planning the October retreat which will be on the 21st to the 23rd and I have some exciting stuff lined up. I will get registration forms out sooner than usual as I think we could get filled to capacity rather quickly! So stay tuned... I've been to teach the Newdegate girls this week which is always fun and next week I am teaching a new group at Kondinin, just down the road. Then I am excited to be going to Lake King in May after school goes back. Although in some ways it is hard work to travel it is so much fun getting out to see the girls. We didn't really need more new stock right now but we have had some come in anyway. Echo Park's new range 'Playground' is awesome! Suitable for both boy and girl layouts, very bright and colourful but also versatile... We also have a lot of new Tim Holtz goodies in...very 3D, lots of metal etc. always yummy! I have been creating a little and have a few layouts complete which I will share soon. Have a great weekend!

I know it has been ridiculously long since I have updated my blog especially with a retreat looming and all...but its been chaotic here to say the least. I have worked all weekend on finishing classes and preparing class requirements etc. to send off to all of you who are coming to the retreat which is now less than 2 weeks away. I apologise for the delay - profusely - and the good news is that I am almost there...it should be ready by tomorrow at the latest.

Here's a peak at my off the page class...a canvas with loads of detail. There is one for girls...

I seriously had fun doing these canvas's and got to use all my messy stuff like paint and my new best friend, my hot glue gun!

Evana and Jen are putting finishing touches to their delectable layouts, while Lis has almost finished too and has peaks and photo sizes on her blog already - very versatile layouts I must say! If all goes well with finishing off these classes we will have 9 classes on offer with stunning kits. Don't ask how we will fit them all in - I am trying to get my head around that as we speak!

I have completed the first of many layouts to go in the kids school albums for 2011. The first day is something we all really looked forward to this year as Jett is so grown up and full time at Pre-school and Phoeb's was ready to tackle Year 2 with new stationery and all...Jett's uniform is still too big but his attitude and enthusiasm were big enough! That boy is gonna give his teachers a run for their money this year...not lacking in confidence anyway...so here's the layouts, one for each of them...

I used a new range by We R Memory Keepers called 'Show and Tell' which I will use throughout the year as the colours are perfect and include their faction colours which will be great for sport days and I love the die-cut papers in this range...

Retreat update...

Ok, so you know the retreat is happening, and thank you to all of you who have registered so far, but you do not know what you are in for! I have a feeling this is going to be a good one. I have been in touch with Evana and those girls have some amazing things planned and so has Lis! I can reveal the first of the sneak peaks already but kits orders wont be out for a week or 2 yet as we are sourcing product and busily preparing what we hope will be a very exciting line up of classes.

The Ultimate gift...

Do you know someone who has everything and you never know what to get them for their birthday or Christmas? I had a customer with this problem and we came up with a solution. We asked the recipeint for some photos and colour preferences and this is the end result. We are stoked!

We made a few framed layouts for customers this Christmas and everyone was happy. Who wouldnt be?

Finally some layouts to share!

Hi there! I've been scrapping my heart out and come up with a couple of Valentines layouts (a little early I know - but that's unusual for me!) of my precious little Valentines...Phoebe and Jett. I used the gorgeous 'Lost and Found' range by My Minds Eye...seeing is believing this range - it is glittery and YUM. Simple but I'm happy...

I had a ball using my new (had it for 4 months and hadn't had a chance to play!) Tim Holtz 'Paper Rosette' die in my Cuttlebug and made some pinwheels (see the 3D embellishment with the heart on it on the Love You So layout) and I am addicted! I love making these babies and have figured out how to make different sizes etc. and the possibilities are endless! Once again...seeing is believing though.

Then I finally got a chance to play with October Afternoons 'Campfire' range and came up with this layout of my kids playing cubbies. I like it but maybe its a little too busy..who cares though?!

Brochures and applications will hopefully be out by the end of this week for the March retreat (late I know!) so stay tuned.

I should also mention that the cards you see on Lynne Herbert's blog are for sale in my shop and in real life they will blow you away so let us know if you would like one/some! Bye for now..

365 Project...

I have been totally inspired by Ali Edwards 365 Project for years now and after reading up on what Sharon Manning has taken on this year in that department, I have decided I am finally ready to give it a go myself. I am taking a photo (or several) everyday for a year and putting them into a journal that has 365 pages that I got from Kikki -K. The thing I love about this project and this journal is that you dont have to start on the 1st of January, you can start anywhere you like. I started on the 29th of January when I received my journal and have taken photos everyday, which I am so pleased about. It's about time I got that camera out and started using it more, and trying out the new techniques I learnt in a camera course I attended last year. The kids are getting in on the act and taking a few photos with my camera for me so I am in some of the photos and they are very obliging when i ask them to pose...wonder how long that will last?!

My baby, Jett, started Pre-Primary this year so is full time at school and loving it! I am loving it too as I knew he was ready. Phoeb's is in Year 2 and also loving it...it's a nice time of year for us.

So needless to say i have some ideas for a 'first day of school' layout and I have some Valentines Day layouts on the go as well so will show when they are done. Thanks for popping over! BTW check out Lynne Herbert...she is on fire with card making at the moment!

Hi there everyone! I am back in the Land of the Living finally and sinking my teeth into work as I speak. I am very excited to be back and have plenty of ideas swimming in my head and I'm also excited about the new releases from all our favourite companies that are being made this week at CHA in the USA. I have started to pre-order some of the new ranges and first off the rank are 2 new ranges from Basic Grey which will be here in February then there will be another 2 new releases to follow. I love 'Luscious' and 'Life of the Party' ans here are the previews...

I have lots to share in the coming weeks including some exciting information about our March retreat...stay tuned to here about new tutors and save the date...25th - 27th March.

Patriotic...

I'm feeling incredibly patriotic tonight on the eve of Australia Day 2011. How fortunate are we...to live in a country so free. I will not down play the devastation Australia has experienced lately with floods in WA, QLD and Victoria, and fires that have devastated many...but what I LOVE is the Australian spirit that prevails when Aussies pick up the pieces, band together and clean-up, fix-up and most of all cheer-up. We are so resilient and strong as a nation, the Great South land of the Holy Spirit. I was not always patriotic but as I grow older and see strong hard working and resilient aussies rise up I become incredibly proud but more importantly, grateful at how fortunate we are. HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY everyone! Love you all!
I can see some Australia Day layouts coming on as we celebrate tomorrow...we are in Albany WA and hope to make the most of it here with the locals. Have a BONZA day!

New in store...

Back already with an update on some new stock that arrived. October Afternoon has become a favourite for some and their new ranges Campfire and Schoolhouse are too cute! Here is a pic of each. We have a selection of papers and accessories in store, plus tonnes of new rhinestones and flourishes, Tim Holtz dies and texture plates and much much more. I cant wait to CREATE!

I haven't been scrapbooking but I have been creating the memories. The kids and I spent day at a glorious beach near Esperance on the 30th and soaked up the sun. While the kids were playing in the surf we spotted a pod of Dolphins in the waves behind them. The beach was packed with people but this did not deter the pod - it spurred them on to put on a show for us and that they did. Fortunately I had my SLR close by and captured some photos of them wave jumping and even at a large distance managed to get this shot - something I will treasure...

I'm down with the flu but its a great chance to get on the Internet and surf for all the latest products and ideas. Gets the creative juices going!

I would like to wish you all a special time over the coming month as you all recover from Christmas and New Year and enjoy the good old Aussie lifestyle of holidays and rest.

May you all be safe and content.

We took a few photos at home before leaving for Bremmer Bay for Christmas where we camped with my family. It was a relaxing time and although it was sad in some ways we also got excited about Christmas because the kids were so excited and we just enjoyed being together. We then relaxed for a few more days before coming to Esperance for fun/sand/surf and time with family.

I'm back at the shop this Thursday and I'm looking forward to working on some ideas that are forming in my head. I plan to be well prepared for classes beginning in February. Then of course there is retreat preparation to do for March...it's coming around quite quickly!

I scrapped!

I snuck in a little scrapbooking on Saturday morning and came up with this single and a double about Phoebe's dance concert that she participated in recently. As a little girl Phoeb's always loved to dance and when we moved to Hyden from the farm we thought this would be the perfect opportunity for her to pursue her love of dancing. She isn't obsessive about it but loves her teacher's (Betty) laid back approach and fits right in with all the other little girls who are just their for the love of the idea and a bit of fun. Phoebe's dance debut started on Melbourne cup day in front of 100 or so people which was followed but a second performance for the old time dancing group, then lastly the community concert for Early Tapping Studio. We laughed so hard i must admit at the little girls trying to remember their routines (I know it sounds mean but you had to be there!) and it was a very enjoyable night - the girls shone like little stars. Here in these layouts I have used a Fancy Pants range called Little Dancer which I think suits the theme, especially for little girls who are just starting out.

Other than that I've been busy with giftware for Christmas shoppers but have started on a kit of the month project which will start in February using Collections products and a 18" x 18" canvas. Keep your eye out for more info on this in the new year as we will be mailing out kits as well as doing classes in store.

So long since I last blogged but here's an update. I'm a bit more organised with Christmas this year and as you saw in my last post I have done a few layouts already, speaking of which - if you would like a kit for any of the layouts we can send them out for $20 each. I also made a Christmas shadow box using the new Tim Holtz Configurations boxes with a load of Christmassy trinkets by K & Co and more. Here's the blurb by Tim, followed by the raw shadow box and my finished piece. I now have these in stock and they are reasonably priced and tonnes of fun to fill!

We have put up the tree at home for the kids to enjoy and I must admit it is lovely to have a tree up as we didn't have one at home last year, but first we put our nativity scene together which is what Christmas is all about for us....

I've made tonnes of Christmas cards this year and helped Phoebe make 24 for her class and teachers - I thoroughly enjoyed doing this with her. I used Christmas double sided papers and coordinating embellishments...

On a very sad note, my girlfriend, Bernadette, lost her Dad last night in a tragic car accident. Life is so short and not to be taken for granted, especially at this time of year. Make sure you 'say what you need to say' because you never know. My thoughts are with Bernadette and her family at this incredibly difficult time. Christmas is going to be a little difficult for me and my family too this year as we have our first without Dean, as well as his wife Cassi and their boys, Asher and Maddox, who are in California. I am hoping that being with my Dad, Mum and brother, Paul and my hubby and our kids, will soften the blow. I sincerely hope you all have a lovely and safe Christmas with your family and friends. I know I am not the only one who cant wait to see 2011 and a better year ahead! I heard of a Tennis Club near by who are having a P#*S OFF 2010 party - must admit I cant blame them! On a positive note I am grateful for everyone in my life and everything I have and have experienced.

I have been scrapping like a mad woman - not for myself though - I am working on a commission album for a 21 year old guy. It's a challenge for sure, but Amy and I completed 17 layouts in 3 days - yeah I know we could have done better than that but it was all done between serving customers, and I taught at Newdegate for a day. Speaking of which, here is one of the layouts I did for the girls, using new Basic Grey 'Jovial' - love that range too...

I have had a few comments about what a spunk my brother, Dean was lately. In the past I have shown photos mostly from when he got sick but in the layouts I am doing for his album I have been scrapping old photos of him - and I agree - he is a spunk! A new look...

Unpacking the shop after the retreat was a massive job but rewarding as we cleaned and sorted everything again. We have made some changes around the floor and the major change is putting paper racks against the wall and hanging products coordinating with the papers above. It look so much better and has got the thumbs up from those who have seen it so far. Here's a (not so good) pic of the wall...

We have a little more new stock in store, namely Lost and Found by My Minds Eye. This range is to die for and has something for everyone as there are both boy colours as well as girl colours. Here is the full range, of which we have quite a bit of.

Speaking of new ranges, I am in love with Sweetness by Pink Paislee which we got before the retreat and I am having my first play with it...will show the LO when it's done. Thanks for looking!

All over for another 6 months...

The retreat, that is. We had a ball! Our 11th Wave Rock Scrapbooking Retreat was a huge success, safe to say 'the best yet' I think. I was the most organised I have ever been (despite having a little break with the family) and with my team - Amy, Ann Smart, Ann Smith, Sharon Morton, Mum and DH (dear husband) we pulled off the best one ever with all the trims. I am pleased to say that the food was great, the classes were awesome and the company was exceptional! We had 7 classes in total that all ran smoothly (well almost) and were enjoyed by all. I taught for the first time at one of my own retreats and my classes were well received, in fact we sold a record number of kits for the 'One of a kind' class, and here are the layouts - very 3D and better IRL...

Then I taught a class using an 'old' school photo from the 70's (love that era - not!) of my baby brother Dean in Pre-primary - he's so cute...

and another sample, my year 12 photo, very simple but some technique in there that the girls soaked up...

We registered the Saturday of the retreat for 'A Girls Night In' breast cancer awareness fundraiser and my target was to raise $500 (small I know, but times are tough) and surprisingly we raised $1346 - a record for us and far exceeded our expectations! So well done girls on money well spent. I asked everyone to wear something pink for the day and everyone did, even one lady - not mentioning any names - who when I asked her where her pink was, showed my her undies! We didnt make a competition out of it but Kylie took the cake for dressing up, with pink rubber gloves, pink swimming goggles, pink t-shirt and a pink tea towel around her waste! Donna rocked up in pink jammies later on in the day, sporting a pink shower cap also and pink toothbrushes in her hair! One other lady worth a mention was Trish, who was wearing pink shirt, capri's and pink unmentionables! I challenged a few ladies to be daring as I had worn a pink shirt with pink bra's on the outside (made my husband laugh and my Dad blush!) so a couple of wags - Belinda, Anna and Sara - also wore their underwear on the outside. Well done girls for raising heaps and making it fun...love ya.

There is so much more I could say about the retreat but it must be very frustrating if you werent there!

On a personal note; I mentioned at the retreat that Friday the 22nd of October was my brother, Dean's birthday, who passed away in June. I spoke of this at the retreat as girls who have been coming to my retreats for years have shared the journey with me and have known of Deans illness and then his passing. Once again I would like to thank everyone for your support, love, prayers and thoughts through this very difficult time. It is far harder dealing with the loss than I ever imagined and it helps to know people care. I was such a bittersweet occasion on Friday but Mum and I were in the company of many friends - our scrapbooking family - then Dad joined us on Saturday - poor bloke had to wear undies on his head! - and my older brother Paul dropped in Thursday night to check out the set up, so we all got to see each other for this 'first birthday without Dean' occasion. Mum and I agreed that being amongst friends was a like medicine and the retreat was a welcome distraction, but didn't go without a tear or two.

Having a break...

I decided after the last school holidays which we worked through that we would not do that this holidays as the kids miss out the most. So a little break as a family was due and we are two days in so far...and having a much needed rest. We found a few things of interest; firstly a van with this phrase on the back that made us chuckle...

then further down the road we found this little guy...super cute...

then we reached our destination and we are sampling the attractions.

We'll be back on deck by the weekend and ready to face another term. Hasnt this year gone fast? I cant believe the silly season is on the horizon and before we know it, it will be January! But theres quite a bit to get through before then..like a retreat...cant wait!

We have had bucket loads of product arrive this week to make kits up and its a huge job but fun...we have been enjoying playing with all the components and its especially good that we are on time for a change in preparation. I have a second sample for my 'School Photos from Yesteryear' class at the retreat. I have used the same range of paper as the first sample so if your buying the full paper pack you can get more bang for your buck! This layout is a more mature looking one as it is of my Year 12 school class photo. All I have done is adjust the embellishments and made the layout a bit less busy, for a different look although the sketch is the same...anyway here's a look...

I am so excited about the new product ranges arriving at the moment. It seems that all the releases from Summer CHA are just to-die-for and I cant get enough of them. I have a huge range of Prima crystals coming and all sorts of other goodies. Cant wait to share them.

More Sneak Peaks...

I have a couple more sneak peaks to reveal. Gayle's done 2 samples of her double page class, a Zoo layout...

And also her double page Travel layout...

I'm all for cramming as many photos on to a layout for particular themes or events and Gayle's got that covered in her class.

Then there are 2 samples so far for my first class 'One of a kind' - it's very blingy, feminine, flowery and all that girly stuff....

However, I am working on a masculine version of this very detailed layout (when I find the photo I am looking for!!!) which will satisfy those of you who have boys in the family...so watch this space for a sneak peak (warning: it may take a while to locate the photo!).

My second class as I mentioned in my last post will be a school layout but I am using a

photo from the 70's of Dean when he was in preschool so it works well with the earthy colours of the paper range I am using. As usual though, the layout can be adapted to other themes or paper ranges. I'll show a preview soon. I am thinking about a third class...depends how much brain space I can make! Bye for now.

Retreat update...

It's well and truly time for an update about the coming retreat on the 22nd of October which is only 6 weeks away...scary but exciting! I have been busy making plans and coming up with new ideas, collecting new stock, talking to tutors about there classes and planning my own classes. Yes, that's right, I'm teaching at this retreat which is a step I decided to take and hopefully wont live to regret! I am excited though about what I have planned...more on that soon when I take a 'sneak peak' photo.

You may have noticed over on Julie Van Oosten's blog her wrap about the retreat. Thanks Julie! What an honour to have you coming all this way. Here's a sneak peak of Julie's class project which is, of course, 'off the page' and absolutely stunning! I cant wait to do this project myself...

Gayle, due to moving house and towns, soon has completed all her layouts for the retreat already and here are the sneak peaks for her first class 'Pinwheels and Bunting' in both a girl and boy sample...

Lis has also completed her first class which is based on Heritage photos and you can see sneak peaks over on her blog - a huge challenge for Lis but well executed I think!

Some of the new goodies I have in store are the new ranges from Basic Grey - Wander and Pyrus, Lis will be doing a sample using Pyrus, and the new ranges from Crate Paper - Restoration, which Lis will also be using for a sample, and School Spirit which I will be using for a school layout. Here are the Crate Paper range samples...

And I have loads of kits in for Gayles first layout - thought I'd get in early and order a stack of paper packs so we don't miss out!

Some layouts to share...

I finally have some layouts to share...I have been scrapping regularly but haven't got around to photographing the layouts until now.

First, I have been running some classes that are provided by Aussie Scrap Source - one of my suppliers so I make a sample but it's usually different to the class sample - that's the great thing about scrapbooking or even scrap-lifting, you get to interpret it your own way. Here is a layout of my kids - or my two VIP's (Very Important Princess and Prince)...I used Pink Paisley Enchanting papers...

And this layout is of my brother Dean at 4 months using Basic Grey 'Wisteria' - an oldie but a goodie...

I love this photo of Dean playing his guitar and when I found this sketch and discovered that the Basic Grey Marrakech papers suited it was a match made in heaven - I love this layout...the colours just work...all I have to do now is journal - this is the hardest part!

I have a huge new range of papers in by Echo Park which I am saving for the retreat but couldn't resist having a play with it and a sketch I found on Becky Fleck's blog and here is the result...

Lastly, for today, I did this layout using Basic Grey Kioshi papers and a sketch by Basic Grey using a paper doilie folded up..i think it worked.

Well, I have some sad news to finish on. Jen Burns, our very talented friend who was to be our new tutor for the October retreat has had to withdraw from teaching this time which both she and I regret and this decision was difficult for Jen. So Jen, we will miss you but we hope in future you can come and inspire us and we wish you all the best in the mean time. For those of you who are coming to the retreat and were really looking forward to meeting Jen and participating in her classes, i apologise and I am sure you will understand even though you may be disappointed. I am working on a replacement tutor but have also designed a stunning class (even if I do say so myself! I put a lot of work into this one!) if I cant find a replacement...so don't panic!

New Basic Grey...

Later in August we will have 3 new ranges by good ol' Basic Grey: Jovial, Pyrus and Wander. Here is a taste...

There are loads more new ranges coming in the next 2 months in the lead up to the October retreat from all our favourite brands. I'm particularly excited by what Pink Paisley and Crate Paper are doing. Cant wait for it all to arrive so you can see it for yourself!

More new stuff...

Well now, i just thought I'd share a few other things that I have in my shop that arent scrapbooking related. The crates that I showed in the last post are powercoated metal and they come in red, pink, blue, yellow and white and are $19.95 each - they are very strong. In this range I also have bread keepers, biscuit tins and many more items...see for yourself...

I am a bit more emvironmentally aware these days and like to do my bit for the environment like recycling etc. One thing I feel apssionate about is stopping the mass production of bottles for bottled water. While I love bottled water for the taste I beleive we have reached a crisis with the amount of empty bottles after the water is consumed. And its dearer than milk and petrol per litre! This is disturbing. So I have gone back to good old fashioned tap water. And my storage solution are these bottle packs called 'Water for the week'. You get 5 bottle, one for each day, you fill them and keep them in the fridge in the holder that comes with them. I have educated my kids about the waste of disposing of bottles so they love their 'water for the week' bottles. These new colours and sizes are in my shop now and the kids ones are especially cool!

Something that you may not know about me (and some of you know it all too well) is that I'm a neat freak. I like all my ducks in a row - not that they always are because life can be messy but I still like things to be neat and tidy and clean. Recently my cupboard below the kitchen sink has been bothering me. I got an idea from a customer about storing all the cleaning stuff in the cupboards - she suggested using these crates I have in stock to put all the goods in to tidy it up and make it easy to get things in and out of the cupboard...so off I went home with my crates and cleaned and organised the cupboard finally. I am so pleased with the result...and I have a little tin for dishwashing tablets coming soon too. Here are the before and after shots...

And I just got some cute caddy's in the shop as well which are to die for. They come in pink and red and would make a gorgeous storage solution for scrapbooking supplies (and they are very affordable). I used one for my kids craft stuff. Once again in a cleaning frenzy here are the before and after shots...

These are a couple of layouts i did for my class in Newdegate last week. The first is of my brother Dean go-carting with his little boy Asher...i love the colours in this one and the grungy theme...

Then I used Basic Grey 'Max and Whiskers' papers on this layout of Jett with his bunny Peter who he got for his 4th birthday...does anyone else see a resemblance between Jett and Tinkerbell or is it just me? Is a mother aloud to make a comparison like that? Here's the layout...

I have one of my newest layouts to share now...it's taken from a sketch supplied by Aussie Scrap Source - one of my suppliers. I adapted it quite a bit and used My Minds Eye papers 'So Sophie'...I love this photo of Phoebe - which I must admit I am guilty of not taking many photos at the moment!

Getting inspired...

There's nothing like a deadline or 2 to make the creative juices flow, or so you hope! I've been working on a commissioned album lately - 21 years of a young man's life in photos all jammed into one album. I've made a start and got through the baby photos and school layouts but there is tonnes to go...so I'm working on that still.

But also, found some inspiration yesterday to get started on scrapbooking some of Deans life in photos for some classes I am preparing for. I am so happy with the results - the layouts are coming together well and I am super-sizing the photos so you can see all the detail - cant wait to show these layouts soon.

Sharon Manning kindly edited this photo for me that Mum took of me holding Deans hand only hours before he passed away...thanks Sharon...this is so sentimental. Hope to scrap it one day...

I'm off to Newdegate for a class next Wednesday and hopefully some classes here in Hyden when all the girls come out of the woodwork from school holidays. That's all for now...Bye.

Moving forward...

It's time now that we have laid Dean to rest for me to move forward (not move on). I am at home now and have been blessed by some special friends who cleaned my house, did my ironing and left me cookies, and another special friend who detailed my car. There have been countless text messages, phone calls, emails and cards from so many of my much loved friends, so thank you to all those wonderful people. I was stunned when Dean died although I knew it was coming and now it is sinking in. I have so many special memories of him and fortunately loads of gorgeous photos that I hope to scrapbook. Here a couple of my favourite photos...there are too may to show them all!

Amy and I are stocktaking at the shop this week and we have an EOFYS sale on for the rest of the week...20% off all scrapbooking supplies and giftware so if you need some bargains then this would be a great time to get them! We are only to happy to mail out orders. We have new goodies in store as well.

I hope to get some scrapbooking done soon as think it wil be good for the soul...bye for now.

Some sad news...

I lost my little (6 foot 3 inch) brother today. He slipped away peacfully this evening. I was with him when he passed on and for the last 3 weeks. I'm so glad I was here as I have no regrets and have spent some of the happiest moments of my life with him. I'm sad now but relieved to know he is with his Maker and has no more pain. Bye for now.

I'm sorry folks but I've been otherwise occupied with being beside my brother Dean, who is fighting for his life - seriously - so I may not post much for the next few days or weeks but I will be back so don't give up on checking in. I just need this time out to be with my family. This has been a very long battle and it would seem that it is about to come to an end but I remain hopeful and prayerful for this amazing man who has touched so many lives. Thanks for all your support over the four years this disease has been troubling us - the friends I have made mean so much.

Recently I was fortunate enough to attend the Becky Fleck class by WA Create in Perth with some of my girlfriends. We had a ball and enjoyed the classes so much. I came home so inspired and cant wait to try out some of the techniques we learnt in my own projects. I will photograph the projects we did soon and post them.

Since I have been back I have completed a few layouts. I got around to doing Jett's school photo layout which I did in the same format as Phoebe's. Each year I will do a layout of their individual portrait and a double layout of their class photos as well as the odd layout of 'first day', sporting events and school concerts etc. I have decided to keep their school related layouts in a separate album each from their everyday albums so all their schooling life is documented in one album. I have also included their reports and certificates in A4 page protectors in the same album. I am pleased that I have this format sorted now so in future I can just keep adding to them. Here is Jett's layout. I used KI Memories and Imaginicse patterned papers and a Jenni Bowlin bracket die cut paper.

I also made a new sketch this week to teach to the local and Newdegate/Ravensthorpe girls (the Ravy girls have joined the Newdy girls for classes seeing as I don't get down there these days...thanks for coming girls!). The layout is a double page of 4" x 6" photos and a photo I edited in photoshop to 4" x 11". If you don't have editing equipment you can use 2 4" x 6" photos in its place. Here are a couple of samples...

Its' been rather busy the last few weeks with our furniture shipment arriving, new gift ware and bits and bobs of scrapbooking products arriving. I have plenty of ideas in my head as usual but need to find time to put it on paper. I especially cant wait to play with all the new Prima flowers that we have had arrive this week so hopefully will have a project to show soon.

Happy Mothers Day everyone! I got to spend some time with my babies and dear husband by starting with some yummy waffles for breaky then a rest...yay...then lunch and dinner with friends. It was a little bittersweet as I didn't get to see my precious Mum and Matt's Mum but we will hopefully catch up with them soon. Love you Mum. Here are Phoeb's and Jett with our homemade waffles and toppings...

Recently on National Scrapbooking Day - May 2nd - we had a social crop at the shop with a few of the local girls. I was a little rusty to start with so I warmed up with some 6 x 4 photos and a simple layout which I managed to come up with myself for a change so this one is called 'Having a Blast' and I used Fancy Pants 'Rusted Sun' papers...

Then I moved onto a couple of layouts that were inspired by a page I found on the Crate Paper blog. I love it when I find a sketch I can use 6 x 4 photos with so I don't have to think about what size to print. So here is Jett at 6 months on my first page which I used Fancy Pants 'Road Show' papers...

and a page about my niece Annika, who is a bit of a character. I used Basic Grey 'June Bug'...

Then last, I came up with this interpretation of a Nic Howard layout designed for Aussie Scrap Source. I have instructions and supplies for this class if any of you are interested. I had to photograph the pages separately but they come together to make a double page layout. The photos are of my Mums brother, Geoffrey. I love how the heritage photos work with this Basic Grey 'Nook & Pantry' papers...

I had a very exciting time in the shop last week with the arrival of my long awaited furniture shipment from Bali. It finally turned up on Thursday and I am stoked with it. I will show photos of some of the pieces soon - they are to die for!

On a personal note, Dean has started treatment for Leukaemia with a round of chemo which they are hoping will get him back into remission. He has been doing well however picked up a couple of bugs in the last few days so is battling with that and some brutal side effects from the chemo. Hopefully it will be all worth it when he comes out the other side...I'm hoping and praying for the best, and for Dean and Cassi to have strength.

I have scrapped again this week in between craziness. My first layout is of some older photos that I found of my kids. I used new Crate Paper 'Paper Doll' collection...

Then I found some older October Afternoon papers to use for this photo of my parents who celebrated their 40th wedding Anniversary recently...I'm happy with this one!

Then i pulled this one off this morning with some older photos once again using the new Fancy Pants 'Roadshow' collection. This layout was inspired by a sketch in the latest edition of Scrapbooks etc...

On a very sad and personal note, we found out last night that my brother, Dean, has relapsed yet again and has Leukaemia back. Although he has been unwell for quite some time and we suspected the cancer was back, nothing could prepare us for the shock of finding out and we feel devastated and sad. Dean and Cassi feel peaceful but also shocked. We will find out where too from here this week when Dean meets with his doctor in Perth. I will post on his progress for those of you who are interested to know. Bye for now.

I've been over to Newdegate this week to see the scrappers over there and had a ball as usual. Classes are running in the store on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I've had a chance to do some more layouts this week and will show and tell when I have photographed them. I am using Becky Fleck Page Maps of course which are fantastic and we now have her book in store for anyone who would like a copy...this is a must!

New stuff and some layouts to share...

We have some new stock in this week. Firstly the new October Afternoon range called 'Fly a Kite' which is super cute, as usual....

And, my favourite tool, the very large magnetic cutting mat from We R Memory Keepers now has a home in this awesome bag that holds a selection of tools, your magnetic mat and there are side pockets that hold 12 x 12 papers and 6 x 12 stickers etc. I love this bag - its my new best friend and we now have them in store...finally...

Today I completed some new layouts. They were 10 minute layouts thanks to my trusty new Page Maps book and recipe cards by Becky Fleck. I literally whipped these up today between customers. The most time consuming part was choosing and applying embellishments! For the first layout I used photos from 4 years ago that I hadn't scrapped yet and I'm totally satisfied now that they are documented. I even put journalling and the date on straight away - something I highly recommend as it doesn't usually get done if you leave it! I used October Afternoon 'Daydream' papers...

Then some recent photos of my kids showing off - hence the title 'Posers'. I used a Christmas range by Basic Grey here but you wouldn't know it - the colours were just right...

Shock!...more layouts to share...

Can you believe it? 2 posts in a row with layouts to share! So as I mentioned in my last post I worked on 4 double page layouts on Sunday and finished them. They are all based on a Becky Fleck page map (a sketch by one very talented gal) so I have taken her sketch an adapted it 4 ways. As I mentioned I used the new We R Memory Keepers 'Hipitty Hopitty' for my Easter Egg Hunt layout and here it is...

And another egg hunt layout using My Little Shoebox (for a boy version) for Jett's album...

Then I decided I hadn't had enough of the sketch so I scrapped our crop checking photos from last spring with the new We R Memory Keepers 'Vintage Blue' range...love this one...

And lastly I scrapped Phoebe's first swimming carnival photos on this layout using Crate Paper 'Orbit' range...

Some layouts to share...finally...

Hi there. Here are a couple of layouts I had been working on a while ago. I realised I had forgotten to show them here. The kids first day of school this year was very exciting for all of us. I kept the layouts simple and rather than using all school themed papers I mixed them up with other ones and tried not to go overboard with the bottle green which is the primary colour in the uniforms - not one of my favourite colours...so here they are...

Also, I started this layout of my Mum a long time ago and hadn't finished it. I finally put a title on yesterday but still have to do the journalling. I love the story behind this photo. I have one of my Dad as well. My parents met in Perth when my Dad was in bible college and Mum lived in Perth. Dad was going home to Esperance and they both thought it would be nice to have a photo of each other as a keepsake. So they had their portraits taken. I think they are total spunks! (sorry Mum if you are reading this!) Here is the layout of Mums photo - not sure when I will get a chance to do Dads.

I have a few more layouts to share but just have to photograph them. Yesterday I had a very special day. Matt took the kids on a day trip and left me home by myself for the whole day to have a break and do whatever I liked. I got so excited (I do love them but need a break every now and then!). I couldn't wait to print photos off and get into some uninterrupted scrapbooking. I went for it and completed 4 double layouts (I'm a bit slower than Lis!) then completed the layouts shown here. I must say it was so good for the soul...and very addictive too!

New paper ranges...

Just before the retreat we received 2 new paper ranges by We R Memory Keepers and we have replenished stock of these ranges again this week. The Hipitty Hopitty range is a gorgeous bright Easter themed collection that I am currently working with on my Easter egg hunt layouts for this year. I cant wait to show the layouts and the good news is that kits will be available.

Also the Vintage Blue range is stunning and I am hoping the come up with a layout using this collection which will also be available in kits.

Basic Grey has also released 3 new ranges that will be here this month. Basics, Max and Whiskers and Cappella are all great collections but due to the fact that Basic Grey keep releasing so many ranges each year I cannot stock the whole collection for each range so I will be stocking Collection Packs for each range and letters etc. as well as a few papers that I think will be popular. If you would like to order any of the collections please email me and I will pre-order them and save them for you when they arrive. Here are the new collections...

Retreat Wrap-up...

Well it's all over for another 6 months! The 10th Wave Rock Scrapbooking Retreat was a great success in my opinion so thanks to all of you who came and made it what it was. I am so pleased with how it went. I am also grateful to the team of helpers who helped make it happen. Thank you Ann, Nev, Dawn, Lisa, Di, Gigga, Sheenagh, Denis and my wonderful Husband Matt. You are all awesome! And also Amy - my right hand woman - you are amazing. Thank you to our wonderful tutors Lis, Sharon and Lynne, who wowed us with their talent and taught classes that produced tonnes of layouts for everyone.

There has been new stock arriving each week for the retreat and there is more to come.

Basic Grey has 2 new ranges, Kioshi and Green At Heart. Both are gorgeous but I especially like Kioshi.

We also have new Prima products - they just keep getting better all the time. Their blossoms are becoming more life like all the time. I have ideas swimming my head for some of the new stuff. It's a case of - not enough hours in the day.

I did get to start a couple of layouts on the weekend. I started the kids school layouts for 2010 with photos of their first day but havent finished them yet...will show when they are done. If only I could scrap as fast as Lis - she is a machine!

What's goin' on...

You're probably wondering what the heck is going on around here....well there's too much to explain in one post but I thought I would share a few things.

Firstly, our March retreat is full steam ahead - hence one reason I am not posting often (very busy getting it organised) - and applications are rolling in. You can see the tutors sneak peaks on their blogs, Lis and Sharon that is, Gayle wont be with us this time...boo hoo...but we do have a new tutor...YAY! I would like to introduce you to Lynne Herbert, our local primary school Principal who happens to be multi talented. Lynne will be sharing her card making passion with us at the retreat. Making memories

Hi there! I'm still in the land of the living. We are on holidays, finally, on a road trip to South Australia. I figured it would be ok to blog about our trip because scrapbooking is all about the memories we make to scrap after all. I have realised I was getting caught up in the process of scrapbooking rather than the reason for doing it! So here are a few photos of what we have been up to.

Firstly, we had to finish harvest which was all over by the 5th of January. This was our last day...

Then on the 8th we left for our trip and camped at the Johnson lakes (west of Norseman) for the first night.

We stayed at the Madura pass on the next night but woke during the night to keep driving as it was too hot to sleep. We watched the sun rise from the Eucla cliffs (the Great Australian Bight) and had breakfast on the cliffs. This memory is priceless and we are hoping to make this a family tradition as we go the SA every couple of years to see Matt's Nana and extended family.

Since then we have been driving still and here are photos of us in our temporary home (the car). We look quite relaxed dont we?

We are now in Streaky Bay have a rest, soaking up the sun and enjoying family time away from work. I hope you are all busy making memories too!

Thank you to all who follow my blog and all my wonderful clients and friends. I would like to wish you a very SAFE holiday season...have fun spending time with your families and be sure to relax and get some chill time.

I certainly am feeling quite relaxed even after such a busy lead up to Christmas. We arrived in Esperance at 10pm on Christmas eve to spend Christmas with both mine and Matt's family. By Christmas morning I was finally feeling like it was Christmas and it was a great day.

Opening presents is always fun with kids, I can remember thinking (7 years ago) "gee Christmas is not as exciting as when I was a kid myself" and the anticipation would be killing me, so having the kids say to me a hundred times "can we open the presents yet?" was all too easy to agree to - once everyone was dressed for Christmas photos of course! - and they had so much fun, and so did we watching them.

I still think of those who could not be with us this Christmas. My brother, Dean and his wife Cassi and the boys are all in California for Christmas with Cassi's family. This is a well deserved opportunity for them and I'm sure they are having a ball. Matt's sister, Kimberly and our nephew Miles are having a white Christmas in Montana where they live. I am looking forward to a white Christmas with them one day...it would be strange to not be swealtering in the heat and eating seafood and salad though...

We are still harvesting this week so we are back to work until its done so we can finish up the season in the office and then go on a holiday. At the moment I have been moving things around a bit in the shop for a fresh new look. We have new stock in for the new year and I am looking forward to playing with it when I get the BAS done.

The silly season...

That's what they call it! and now I know why! Everything is a bit silly at the moment...my brain, the kids, the harvest and everything that is going on. I am taking stock at the moment...of life. I have really struggled to get into the spirit of Christmas this year...struggled with the schedule of things to do, places to be, and responsibilities. I get the feeling I'm not the only one. I envy blogger's who are counting down the days with craft projects, taking photos every day, Christmas cooking and all the 'holiday frills' but I am not one of those and I think I am in the majority, not the minority. So how can this be avoided?...i'll tell you next year if I figure it out between now and then.

I lost a friend last week, a guy I've known for nearly 20 years. And the worst thing is that it is now... at Christmas time. And its so much worse for his family...so I've been a bit stunned to say the least.

Anyway, to cut a long story short I realised that my 'lack of Christmas spirit' was not fair on the kids so we got some decorations together and got our nativity ornaments out and did a little decorating on Sunday. I finally got to dress the kids in red and take our annual Christmas photo (which was not that easy as it took quite a bit of coaxing to get the kids to smile at the same time and not pull silly faces!). So hear they are...Phoeb's is till missing her front 2 teeth...there is a hint of a new one!

Despite the dramas I have faced, life has still gone on and stocking the shop for Christmas has been busy but fun. I have loads of new gift ware in...

and new scrapbooking ranges in as well like K & Co Evergreen - the Christmas line which is vintage this year...

...and Greenhouse which is a fun new Eco range that I am dying to do something with... projects are forming in my mind to work on in the new year.

Speaking of the New Year, my mind is buzzing with loads of ideas for next year (its the sleepless nights when I think this stuff up!) so I'll try to keep you informed in January of new ideas and plans for 2010. That's all for today...be back soon.

I have been preparing for classes and have a few completed layouts and more on the go. Here are the ones that are complete. I have a obsession with self adhesive border strips at the moment and I'm having fun using them...

I am trying to get into Christmas preparation mode at the moment. I have an idea for my Christmas cards that I will atempt to make later this week, and I still have loads of photos from last Christmas that I havent scrapped so I'm going to get on to those to. I have plenty of Christmas papers to choose from so I cant wait.

New products...

Well its been a busy couple of weeks around here. On the 30th of October my assistant, Amy, got married to her sweet heart, Garth. It was a great wedding and she was a stunning bride. Take a look for yourself...

So at the wedding I had a little accident...i slipped on some water on the dance floor whilst kicking my heels up (literally!) and rolled my ankle. I was disappointed that I couldn't dance anymore as I was having so much fun...but probably just as well I didn't try. While Amy has been on her honeymoon I've been hobbling around at the shop but I have managed to do a layout or 2 while I've had my foot up. I thought I had lost my creativity at first but I ended up getting back into it again and have completed 4 layouts and almost finished a few more...only trouble is I keep forgetting to photograph them so I can show and tell! This is the only one I managed to get a photo of. It has a photo of my sisters-in-law and I at my Brother-in-laws wedding in August. I used K &Company 'Que Serra' paper, border strip and die cut. This was a really quick warm up layout...

I read about it on her blog and had to have a copy because i like her recipes so much, and got a few extra copies to sell as well. She is one amazing woman who I admire. You'll love her too. Also, the most exciting news for me is that I am now going into furniture sales as well...yes thats right, I have filled my shop space quite well for someone who wasnt going to try to fill the shop space I had! I just cant help myself. So I have a sea container of Indonesian furniture arriving in tomorrow morning...cant wait. Here's a pic...

So that's what I have been up to lately, exciting stuff. Also my husband and his team are busily getting ready for the 2009 harvest and its going to be interesting one thats for sure. So the next couple of months are going to be crazy but I'm beginning to think thats the norm for us...oh well, life is good anyway. Be back soon!

Sorry for the lapse in time, once again since the last post. It has been a very busy few weeks to say the least. The 9th Wave Rock Scrapbooking Retreat is now over and today we packed away the last of the stock and equipment from the retreat. It was monumental this time...60 ladies, 3 days, warm weather, lots of laughs and happy tears and many more friendships made...truly a fantastic time - in my opinion and in all who I have spoken to since. I am so pleased and although tired beyond description, I am very happy. I am so pleased to have met some new girls who love to scrap - one of the things we have in common that brings us together, stoked to have caught up with old friends and I am still cracking up when I think about our celebrities 'Kath and Kim' who graced us with their company on Saturday night. Thank you to all of you who came to make it as memorable as it was and especially to out tutors and helpers who made it so good. I must also mention my husband who committed himself to making it better than ever - I am indebted to him.
Unfortunately I do not have photos to show but you will find more interesting bits about the retreat from the tutors blogs (in the side bar) and also I don't have any layouts to show...but I am about to print some photos of my own to do the class layouts. Now that all the hard work is done and the fun is over I may find some time to scrap as well...well here's hoping! Amy, my assistant is off for a few weeks to get married! so I will be working full time and intend to get creative and messy again...cant wait!

Slice Promotion...

Some of you may be familiar with the Making Memories Slice, an electronic die-cutting machine. In the past I have focused on the Provo Craft Cricut, that is until I came across this promotion that Making Memories are running with Printblocks. The new 'PINK' Slice has now been released and I have them in stock as of today. A portion of sales goes to breast cancer research which is something that is of great importance to alot of us. The Pink Slice is a portable die-cutting machine that is compact and cute. The best thing is that it is only $379 which is great value, so those of you who cant quite cough up $700 for the Cricut Expression, this is a fantastic alternative. The cartridges are cheaper and the designs are gorgeous. The new Pink Slice comes with 2 cartridges and basic tools.

Final sneak peeks...

All the classes for the retreat are now ready and I have the last of the previews to show. The tutors have worked really hard to come up with inspiring and challenging workshops and I am very excited about presenting them all.

Gayle Smith has completed her last class, a single layout using some ranges that are a little different and they have turned out real good. The 'Those Things We Do' preview is now up on Gayle's blog but you can see it here as well...

Also, we are throwing in a bonus workshop for Friday night at the retreat - a 'Photoshop Tutorial' on enhancing photos with digital elements and text. This is an area I have not dabbled in yet so I am looking forward to this one. Here's a plug...

And LAST but definitely not LEAST is the very exciting travel mini album by Sharon Manning. She has come up with an awesome travel journal that you can either take on holidays and record your travels as they happen, or just simply add you photos to a trip you've already done. This album is a custom size and is perfect for 6" x 4" photos, memorabilia and of course...they story. Love it!

Well this is going to be a goody...Gayle's Power Scrapping Workshop is fantastic! She designed 4 layouts to complete in less than 2 hours and came up with a bonus 5th layout. This workshop would be excellent if you had a theme that would take up 4 or 5 pages like part of a holiday. Using just one set of letters, one set of stickers, some paper, cardstock and basic tools for all 5 layouts. Here's a look...

I have one of Gayle's sneak peeks. Her first class is a single page layout with handmade paper embellishments. This is Friday afternoons class (new class time slot!)...

As promised I want to show a few samples from my inking techniques class. The first layout is of Matt's Mum (far right) as a child with her parents and siblings. I love how this layout turned out with the inking and then the Tim Holtz metal embellishments - which have been flying out the shop door - and so have these frames which we have tonnes of in store (email scrappinoutback@bigpond.com if you would like one). The second layout is one of my Mums school photos. I am doing my Mum and Dads album in A4 format...love this format.

The October retreat is now only 4 weeks away so I am busily getting things organised for the much awaited event. The tutors have been creating away and have come up with some awesome classes that will inspire all who come, especially those who have lost their mojo and are wishing to get it back.

I can reveal Lis's two classes...'Celebrate' and 'Be Merry'....so here are the sneak peaks - perfect for events where you have tonnes of photos to use....

I can also reveal Sharon's first class - a mixed media class that is so fascinating and full of technique. You cant miss this one even if you're not an 'off the page' kinda gal!

Sharon is also working on a mini travel album/journal that is going to be great. Looking forward to doing this one to document our recent family holiday.

I'm Back!

Well overdue for an update so here goes...

I had alot going on in early August with classes and such then on the 10th we flew to the Sunshine Coast in QLD for a wedding and a holiday. It was Matt's brothers wedding, Corban, who married the very beautiful Jaimee. Here's a photo of the bride and groom, and the flower girls of which Phoebe was one of them...she was missing her 2 front teeth...

The wedding was beautiful of course and the first week of our holiday was spent on the lead up to the wedding with Matt's family. Then we celebrated Matt's 30th birthday with his family at the Ettamogah Pub which was loads of fun. Here's the birthday boy.

We spent another 5 days in QLD with amazing sunny weather which was very relaxing. Then it was back to Hyden to catch up with work as well as preparation for Matt's second 30th birthday party. We celebrated it at the Hyden Hotel with 50 friends and had a really special time.

Only a day or 2 later we were off to the Newdegate Field Days where I have a stall each year and we did pretty well, but were exhausted by the time it was over. A day at home then it was Phoebes 6th Birthday so we celebrated that and Fathers Day as a family. Now we are head down and tail up catching up on work again. I'm not complaining about now busy we have been - its great that life is good and we don't have time to get into trouble or slack off!

Since I've been back i have been on to organising the 9th Wave Rock Scrapbooking Retreat which is proving to be popular judging by the amount of applicants we have already. We have had loads of new stock in recently, especially products for classes at the retreat. It is so yummy! There is too much to show it all but Basic Grey have just released Indian Summer and Eskimo Kisses and we have these ranges in stock. Here are the picks...

I am currently working on classes for next week - a comprehensive look at inking, masks and other techniques. I'll upload photos late next week hopefully of the final layouts. This class series is something I have been wanting to do for a while and I am really long forward to sharing it.

to show you a layout I did with the Cricut machine. I cut the circle and flourish in both paper and chipboard (for a 3D effect) and cut the 'Baby' title on the Cricut also with my new favourite cartridge - 'Calligraphy'. I am really pleased with how this layout turned out. I used K & Co Que Serra Serra papers and diecut goldfish...isn't he cute?!

I have just come home from Esperance where I taught a class to 25 ladies on Saturday night. The class went really well and I suspect this bunch may be interested in more scrapbooking judging by the amount of fun they had making their class project.

Also on Wednesday and Thursday the introductory classes to the Cricut went well...there were quite a few OOOHHHHs as I was showing a few little tricks I'd learnt on the machine which was a relief because I was wondering if most of my Cricut owners knew more about their machines than I do!

Buzzing...

The classroom has been buzzing this week with our Tuesday night class and social scrapbooking today. Now that school has gone back the girls have come out of the woodwork to scrap and we had a full house today. My shop is in a shopping centre that has a supermarket, butcher, bank, newsagent, chemist and clothing store and the other shop owners commented on how much activity there was in the store today with laughter and chatter going on all day. I am thriving on this as you would imagine - the company especially. We even had a new gal today who has never scrapped before and she was addicted within the hour, as well as a lovely lady all the way from NZ who is staying here for 3 months. She rang before she came to oz to see what the shop was like and what we do - she is now hooked...classic! Love what I do. I am currently choosing gift ware for the shop in preparation for Fathers Day and of course Christmas which is now only 5 months away and don't you worry, that will go very fast. I have lots of goodies on order - something for everyone. I also have new scrapbook supplies arriving weekly. I got a little of October Afternoon 'Cheery Hill' today and have more coming soon. My mind is buzzing with ideas for using all the new goodies.

Just thought I'd show a couple of new products I have in stock. Recently this new border punch was released by Fiskars. It's a row of brackets joined together. I LURVE this one! I've used it already on a layout. On this layout I used the new K & Co Que Sera range...

I have been promising to show layouts I've been working on lately so here are a few. Firstly, a layout using Collage Press - 'Sweet Shoppe' paper and some yummy embellishments. This layout took 15 mins on a Friday afternoon - quickest layout I've ever done from scratch. I love it. It's Mothers Day this year and Phoebe took the photos of me!

Then there's this one of Phoebe dancing. I used K & Co 'Mira' papers and embellishments. I love this range and have had it for a while but hadn't got around to using it. So now i have...

And this one of Phoebe on her first day of school this year (at Lake King Primary). I am using a pack of Making Memories papers that are really old for her school album and will mix it up a bit with other ranges. I like the little Grungeboard bus icon that I painted with Distress Crackle Paints, and the EK Sucess punch for the red scalloped circle.

I am enjoying scrapbooking so much and have so many deadlines to meet with scrapbooking commitments i have, but I wouldn't have it any other way...enjoying the journey. Ta Ta.

Happy eofys is over...

That is, I'll be happy when the rigmarole of eofys is over!

What have I been up to? I can tell you I've been a busy gal. I have been continuing on with classes and they are going well. Numbers are getting better and it never ceases to amaze me that just when you think you've roped in every potential scrapbook addict, another one or few come along and get hooked. It's so fun! Gayle's distress techniques classes were popular for oldies and newbies. The gorgeous 'Sweet Shoppe' papers by Collage Press were to die for and very versatile.

I, or should I say Amy, has been busily stock taking away and I'm convinced the total is gonna blow me away as the stock is breeding - growing before our eyes. I am so excited about too many new ranges that we have to have as many of them as my credit card will permit! Some of the new lines i have are;

Basic Greys new Lemonade and June bug...

...a few new ranges from Fancy Pants including Summer Soiree...

...and these babies are back in stock after 11 months!...

I've also been making invitations. Our first commissioned job for invites was for 120 of them with a Hollywood theme. This was no small feat so I called on the very talented Gayle Smith to help me out and she did not disappoint. An amazing gal.

I've been scrapping as well. Here are a few quick and easy layouts I designed using 6 x 4 photos...

and a double page layout with a regular single photo and a 12 x 12 page protector that's divided into six 6x4 sections. Too easy...but that's the whole idea!

I can honestly say that I am the most content I have been in a long time. I LOVE going to work and enjoy it so much. And just for the record the shop is doing very well and we are paying the bills. It's doing far better than I expected..and who would have thought?

Definitely overdue for an update...so here goes...

Firstly, every June we have a album sale and June has come around again so all our albums are 20% off until the end of the month (includes albums in stock only). Warning...this could be a long post as there is lots to report...

Recently we began beginners classes at Scrappin' Outback as there are loads of girls wishing to start out. Gayle Smith designed one of our beginner layouts with 2 versions (boy and girl) for our class and her layouts were gorgeous. I've had a few girls who have been scrapbooking for a while ask if they can have a kit so I thought I'd mention it if any of you would like one too. We have some new stock in store. K and Company have released new ranges and as usual they are to die for. I love Madeline which is very girl and romantic looking and also Que Serra Serra which is very collage arty farty style and absolutely gorgeous. I have a fair bit in stock and cant wait to use it myself.
We also have new Collage Press ranges 'Knave of Hearts' and 'Sweet Shoppe' that are stunning. Gayle is working on a layout using Sweet Shoppe which I'm sure will be awesome...sorry Gayle.. no pressure intended! Here are samples...

Then we now have the ultimate cutting mat by We R Memory Keepers. It is 14" x 18" and is magnetic (much like the Basic Grey magnetic cutting mat only bigger) and comes with a very large magnetic ruler. I love these cutting mats because i get less slippage when cutting with a ruler and knife, and also because I can hold down elements on my layout when I am assembling it. I can then hold it up to see if it looks good. These are pricey but worth the outlay. They retail for $69.95 and if you want magnetic posts to anchor things a set of posts (sold separately) is $10.95. They Basic Grey mats are a great alternative (@ $54.95) but have sold out, however will be back in stock soon. We R have also released a magnetic circle cutter to go with the mat which cuts circles from 4" to 12". It is quite good and I have these. They are $44.95. Tools have been very popular here of late and we have loads in stock.

I have a layout to share that I did a few weeks ago. I used Pink Paislee papers and border strips, the Cricut font called Stamped (my favourite) for the title and heart and a new Cricut cartridge called Home Decor for the birdie which is cute as. I have this new cartridge in stock...here it is.

Life is good...

Hard sometimes...but good. Things have finally settled down a bit for me. I am now enjoying a routine and I'm happy. I'm so grateful for all the good things in my life at the moment. I live in a beautiful town, have a beautiful family and now a scrapbook shop that is up and running too. I feel so fulfilled.

National Scrapbooking day was not a big event as sport is on Saturdays so it clashed but I'm sure there will be plenty of other opportunities to get together and scrap with the girls. I had my first class today - a beginners class. It was fun to introduce some new girls to scrapbooking and see their anguish over putting their layouts together, then their excitement when their layouts were finished. I warned them that they would go home and either not sleep tonight or dream about scrapbooking all night. Do you remember doing that? It happens to me occasionally if I've had a big scrapbooking day. Amy,my assistant, wasn't a scrapbooker until now..now it wont be long before she is addicted like the rest of us. You should see the excitement on her face! (and by the way... she is so good at her job). It's so satisfying for me to see people enjoy the craft.

I have managed to get my creative juices going again and have done a few layouts which I will photograph soon to show. I have loads of photos printed out and papers chosen for new layouts so I'll put my head down and tail up while Matt is off busy at work. Seeding is about to start (praying for rain) so there will be plenty of nights alone for me scrap.

Some new goodies are in at the shop. Basic Grey's new line 'Lime Rickey' is in stock and is very bright and funky...

New 'Baby Safari" boy and girls ranges by Little Yellow Bicycle...

Most new paper ranges are coming out with die cut papers that are to die for...very intricate and very cool. Also there is lots of glitter and clear embellishments. Owls, trees and birds in multitudes...still! It's all eye candy.

The new shop...and National Scrapbooking Day

Well I'm overdue for an update so here it is...

Firstly, the most exciting thing that as happened to me is realising my dream of opening my own scrapbook shop. It is finally a reality and all up and running. It took Amy (my new assistant) and I a couple of weeks to get it all set up - I had far more stock than I realised! - and now most of my stock is on display and looking good. The response from people who walk in, which is all good, has made it all worth while and is very encouraging. Its great to see so many people excited about this wonderful craft. I have loads of girls who want to start scrapbooking and loads who just appreciate now having a shop in close proximity. I must say Hyden is a fantastic place to have a shop - I'm loving it here. So here are some pics to show it off although you have to see it for yourself. I'm really pleased with how it looks.

Then there's National Scrapbooking Day this Saturday the 2nd of May. To celebrate I am having an opening day and all day crop in the new shop to christen it and to toast to many happy scrapping times ahead. I cant wait to have a room full of excited scrappers busily scrapping away and enjoying each others company.

Lastly, for today, my brother Dean has made it through a very severe dose of chemo and a series of infections. He is now out of hospital and has a month to build strength, put on weight and recover. Miraculously he is in remission which originally they though he wasn't so in the short term things are looking up - for which we have our God to thank. In the long term things are still not looking good but as always we remain hopeful for miracles. It has been difficult to say the least but we are so grateful that he is well at the moment. My sister-in-law needs a medal by the way for her devotion and love to Dean. Cant be thankful enough.

Checking in from a very long break from the blog. The last few weeks have been difficult to say the least but I'm back with an update.

The retreat was a huge success. I thought I would have to leave at one stage because my brother was so unwell but I ended up being there for it all. The tutors blew us away again with great classes. It is so frustrating that photos of layouts do not do them justice but the results of the classes were amazing with some awesome versions of the samples and most girls frantically doing more than one layout from each class. I am so glad it all went well and that all the girls - new and old comers - enjoyed it. We did miss a few regulars, however Bernadette - one of our regular entertainers who was away - featured in a story from Sally - the other regular entertainer - that had us nearly wetting our pants. Ann and Donna were checking in by text and phone to see how things were going. We missed you all girls, and Margaret who is far far away in NZ (lucky thang!). Kim started a trend a few years ago when she brang her leather office chair and although she was not there (miss you) her trend was carried through by others who were there with their office chairs - this is serious stuff after all and a girls gotta be comfortable! (Sorry to mention names but some of you have become notorious!)

So my news is (and lots of you already know)...is that I am opening a shop in Hyden! I have dreamed of this for so long and it has now become a reality - a scrapbook shop of my own. I have enjoyed the lifestyle of being a mobile scrapbook shop for the last 4 and a half years but now it is time to put in all on display. I have an amazing shop that has heaps of character and most importantly - space! I have been unpacking new furniture and shop fittings over the last few days and I'm so excited I dream about it in my sleep. It has been a welcome distraction to a difficult time. I'm still pinching myself at my fortune though to be living in such a great town with so many lovely people and now a SCRAPBBOOK SHOP. In my haste to assemble furniture today I forgot to take some 'before' photos of the shop but I did capture this photo the other day of my new cash register when it arrived. Ever since I was a little girl I always wanted a cash register of my own (this may sound strange, I know) and now I have one that prints out my business name etc. and it is so satisfying. Small pleasures. I will keep you updated on progress of the shop as I go. I open on Tuesday the 14th of April and will have an official opening after the school holidays with a bottle of bubbly. Yeehah!

On a personal note....Dean is doing better this week, finally, but it is a long road ahead and although the outlook is not good we remain hopeful. I spent 3 amazing days with him last week and some very special moments in that time with our older brother Paul - too personal to speak of - but very special indeed.

So I'll leave you with this message, that life is short and too short to not say what needs to be said or done, even if it's hard to do or say. Love to you all.
